Susan Goulet is the founder and director of the Milwaukee Yoga Center, which opened in October 2000. She is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor, Intermediate Junior III. She studies regularly with senior teachers, John Schumacher, Patricia Walden, Stephanie Quirk, Mary Obendorfer, and Eddy Marks. She also studied with Laurie Blakeney, Chris Saudek, Lois Steinberg, and Mary Dunn. In 2007 she studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India. Susan came to yoga as a last resort, trying to find relief from Crohn's Disease, an incurable inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Almost immediately, she felt a lessening of the nagging back and joint pain, but the debilitating effects of the Crohn's still remained. Finally, after replacing twelve-hour workdays as a graphic designer with a more balanced work schedule and a daily yoga practice, she was able to be free of all medication and Crohn's symptoms. She now teaches yoga full-time, directs the Milwaukee Yoga Center, mentors yoga teachers and teaches yoga classes for the UWM Dance Department. |
